The support and contributions we have received have been beyond our wildest expectations. Aside from the thousands of wonderful recommendations, tips and recipes our readers have shared, we have published travel tales from more than 75 travel writers from around the globe. | Travel Tale Diary from Doha by Linda S. Christensen | | Doha Skyline | WJ is thrilled to share segments of "Diary from Doha" by Linda S. Christensen. Linda is a court reporter travelling the world covering major tennis & golf tournaments. This is the first installment from Linda's recent visit to Doha, Qatar. January 2011 Hello, Friends. And Happy New Year!
I have arrived in Doha, Qatar. I begin work tomorrow. I've never been to the Middle East before, and while it was never a place I'd have put on my Bucket List, I am [thus far] enjoying the experience. I say that with reserve, as I've been here less than 24 hours. However, I do want to share a few observations that have impressed me.
Firstly, Qatar Airways is quite possibly the best airline I've flown (and I believe my first experience on a 777). Yes, it is always cramped in Coach, but I have never enjoyed cuisine on a plane like Qatar served up. Oh, before I forget, I am hoping to get the correct pronunciation of Qatar. Whenever I hear an advertisement in Europe regarding Qatar Airways, it is always pronounced KOTT-ter. Westerners typically pronounce it ka-TARR. The English call it CATT-TAR. So I have yet to determine the correct elocution/pronunciation where this Q country is concerned. Click here to read more.

Travel Tale Indulgence in Sydney - A Hunt for Coffee, Cake & Opals by April Christine | | Shopping in Sydney | It was a beautiful Saturday morning in Sydney, and I was ready to shop. I knew before ever arriving in Australia that I would be in the market for a black opal. I realize now, in hindsight, that my market and the Sydney market were not compatible. But at the time, waking up on that beautiful morning with no signs of the long-lingering jet lag (finally!), there was hope and promise in the air of a fantastic stone to remind me of our latest adventure, and our most recent home.
