Greetings!

This month WJ celebrates our 5TH Anniversary since launching the website. When we look back at where we've been, what we've done and most importantly, the wonderful people we've met along the way, we are totally blown away!

The support and contributions we have received have been beyond our wildest expectations. Aside from the thousands of wonderful recommendations, tips and recipes our readers have shared, we have published travel tales from more than 75 travel writers from around the globe.

Based on reader input and requests for WJ's travel recommendations, our travels have taken us throughout Canada, USA, South Africa,Tunisia, England, Ireland, Spain, France, Portugal, Italy, Netherlands, Luxembourg, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Mexico.

There have been so many highlights that it is difficult to choose number one, but maybe in the next five years we'll be able narrow it down. Thanks to all our readers and contributors for helping us keep on keepin' on!

Brendan Vacations Small Group Discoveries
Tours in Ireland

During the Fall of 2010, WAVE Journey enjoyed the distinct pleasure of experiencing a "sampler platter" of Brendan Vacations' Small Group Discoveries in Ireland.  Brendan, with a long and successful history of helping
travelers discover the world, is set to launch a new opportunity for those travelers desiring a more upscale, escorted vacation with no more than 24 guests.

Brendan's Small Group Discoveries for 2011 will feature comfortable, but
smaller coaches which will allow access to more secluded sites.  Besides the
usual major attractions, these smaller groups will enjoy visits to more
off-the-beaten-path treasures.

Klicks for Chicks at Triple Creek Ranch

Take twelve adventurous and spirited women, combine with nimble-footed equine athletes, add luxurious and elegant cabins, stir in gourmet cuisine, infuse laughter and camaraderie, blend vigorously for five glorious life-changing days, and voila ~ the outcome is the most exciting women-only horseriding adventure the Northwest has to offer.

This past October,Triple Creek Ranch in Darby, Montana invited WAVEJourney to participate in a one-of-a-kind women's horseback riding adventure, the inaugural "100 Klicks for Chicks" (100 kilometers/klicks = 62 miles) endurance ride. Triple Creek Ranch owner, Barbara Barrett, dreamed of taking the conceptof the men's 100-mile Desert Caballeros horseride in Arizona
(now in its 65TH year)
and giving it the "Triple Creek twist".

Diary from Doha

WJ is thrilled to share segments of "Diary from Doha" by Linda S. Christensen. Linda is a court reporter travelling the world covering major tennis & golf tournaments. This is the first installment from Linda's recent visit to Doha, Qatar.

January 2011
Hello, Friends. And Happy New Year!

I have arrived in Doha, Qatar.  I begin work tomorrow.  I've never been to the Middle East before, and while it was never a place I'd have put on my Bucket List, I am [thus far] enjoying the experience.  I say that with reserve, as I've been here less than 24 hours.  However, I do want to share a few observations that have impressed me.

Firstly, Qatar Airways is quite possibly the best airline I've flown (and I believe my first experience on a 777).  Yes, it is always cramped in Coach, but I have never enjoyed cuisine on a plane like Qatar served up.

Oh, before I forget, I am hoping to get the correct pronunciation of Qatar.
Whenever I hear an advertisement in Europe regarding Qatar Airways, it is
always pronounced KOTT-ter.  Westerners typically pronounce it ka-TARR.
The English call it CATT-TAR.   So I have yet to determine the correct
elocution/pronunciation where this Q country is concerned.

Indulgence in Sydney - A Hunt for Coffee, Cake & Opals

by April Christine

Sydney Australia
Shopping in Sydney

It was a beautiful Saturday morning in Sydney, and I was ready to shop.  I
knew before ever arriving in Australia that I would be in the market for a
black opal.  I realize now, in hindsight, that my market and the Sydney
market were not compatible.  But at the time, waking up on that beautiful
morning with no signs of the long-lingering jet lag (finally!), there was hope and promise in the air of a fantastic stone to remind me of our latest adventure, and our most recent home.
