| Ciao a tutti, Italy is celebrating its 150th year as a nation - a nation that unites places as different as Valle d'Aosta in the north and Sicily in the south. The common ties between these places however are to be found in shared values such as independence, a strong love and attachment to the land one grew up in and the family one grew up with. The unification of Italy started with Garibaldi trying to finally give the land back to the people and get rid of the various conquerors that were taking advantage of the locals across the country. There is also another value that is shared by all Italians and is uniquely Italian: "la bellezza" - "beauty". Italy is a beautiful country - and this is not just because of the wonderful natural beauty it is blessed with but because of the beauty that Italians have created. From the very well known places such as Venice, Florence, Rome, Naples and Palermo to lesser known ones such San Gimignano, Maratea, Diamante, Tropea, Modica, Gubbio. So join us in singing Auguri to Italy - and to help we prepared a small language guide for you that will come in handy in any birthday situation. Of course - any proper birthday party needs some pizza - and we have the official Italian Pizza recipe for you. Great Italy Day to you. Arrivederci! ITALY team |
