Despite its generous size, Rhodes is an Island of understated appeal. Ask a neutral to recall a famous Acropolis and the answer will doubtless be Athens. Enquire of a Greek party island and they are likely to respond with Mykonos or Los.
Yet unbeknown to many, Rhodes boasts its own ancient ruins to rival the mainland capital, as well as its own dusk-till-dawn party town. Indeed, the heritage site of Lindos and hedonistic resort of Faliraki represent the versatility of this enjoyable chunk of Greek Isle.
My travelling partner Anna and I were to be based on the south of the island, in the town of Kiotari, making a hire car a necessity if we were to see much beyond our hotel resort. Read on... |

| WJ Shares a Recipe ~
Masoor Pink Lentil Soup Courtesy of Anupy Singla Gupta
~ Just 40 minutes start to finish. Instead of using cumin as a base like a traditional dahl I used onions/garlic/celery/carrots/bay leaves/2 tsp curry powder. It's totally delicious! Ingredients & Preparation: - Chop an onion/celery/carrot/2 cloves garlic/3 bay leaves and sautee in oil 5 minutes. - Once soft, add 2 teaspoons of curry powder and 1 1/2 cup lentils (French lentils or the Masoor red lentils). - Sautee a few seconds. - Add 1 chopped tomato and 6 cups water. - Cook for 30-40 minutes at a low simmer. - Add salt and pepper. Delicious! |
